A Gentle Reminder for Tumultuous Digital Times

Freedom of speech means:
  • you get to say whatever you want.
  • everyone else does too.

Freedom of speech does NOT mean:
  • that anyone is obligated to provide you a forum in which to speak.
  • that no one's allowed to call you an jackhole for what you just said.

Thank you for your attention to this rant that doesn't apply to you, because you are a lovely and sensible person. Unlike some folks on the internet. Snarl. Ahem. Forget I said that.

YES!

Also deleting your comments from my blog is NOT a violation of your rights. Jackhole.

I'm seeing a theme develop here, Jen. #8 on your list of 9.5, and now this. I want to tell you to just let it go, but my baser instinct is to ask where the fight is so I can go kick some a$$ on your behalf.

Adam: :D Sounds like you understand the "not your forum" aspect perfectly!

Kate: Actually, no, this wasn't in response to anything recent, but thank you. :)

I do seem to have trouble walking away from those juicy internet spats, however, so your advice to 'let it go' is welcome and appropriate. That's what I have to keep telling myself.

*scribbling* don't engage Jen in a flame war. She will win. *end scribbling*

Pacatrue: The crispiness of my eyebrows, and the whiff of smoke about my person, calls lie to that. :D

LOL

Thank you for this one. If somebody really needs to stand on their soapbox, there are plenty of free ones out there. They don't need to crowd up on mine.

And I say jackhole things from time to time, though I do try to limit that to in person and I don't try to do it on purpose. But not evryone's going to like what I have to say wherever I say it.
