Still puzzling over why they pop though. He did say store bought. Hmmmm.

Ah. They're not cooked. And here I was thinking store bought meant pre-cooked, at least partially.
That makes sense that the outside gets cooked first and the inside is still cooking.
Fun experiment, if you wear a spalash guard.
